Last night Katie and I went with about 200 indie scenesters to a movie screening of 'The Devil And Daniel Johnston'. Its the story of musician Daniel Johnston's battle with mental illness, drugs, and his family. I really enjoyed it, and afterwards there was a performance by the man himself. Here is a couple of shots, sorry but the lighting sucked in the venue.
For those of you that don't know Daniel Johnston, he is not the best singer, or guitar player, or any instrument for that matter. But he writes amazing emotional songs, many of which have been covered by other artists. Here is an example of one of his songs that was recently covered by Karen O on the Where The Wild Things Are soundtrack.
Tonight we off to dinner for Katie's Birthday at Ichi Ni and then onto see The XX at the corner, should be a good night.
